I have made several trips into southern Iraq, mostly to an American camp named Camp Buca. There we treat enemy POW's. Some are very bad people responsible for thousands of deaths and murders. The dental section was so busy Friday that I started pulling teeth for the first time. I am going to stick with being a family pract. once back in the States. Going through the small towns in Iraq are the only time I see children, since Camp Udairi is in the middle of nowhere. The country of Iraq is so rich with oil, but the people have been abused by Saddam for so long. Seeing the kids line the streets shouting for food as we drive, made me miss Michael, Megan and Matthew even more. The area around Camp Buca has been controlled by the British up until the past two weeks and has been very secure, but now we have handed back to the Iraqis and now the RPG attacks have increased.
All and all I am doing well. Jennifer is doing a wonderful job not only doing everything she normally does, but also playing daddy as well. I am very proud of her. Thank you so much for the emails and prayers at work and church and all around the country, they have meant so much to us. I am also very proud to be here serving with the fine men and women in our military and I still get chills seeing the Stars and Stripes flying here. Again, thank you for all the support to me and Jennifer and continue to keep us in your prayers.
My address is below, but it has been taking about 2-3 weeks to get mail. Thanks again.
Love, Brad
Hello from the hot and sandy Persian Gulf. I am in the third week of this deployment and I can't wait to get home already. I am currently in Northern Kuwait about 5 miles from the Iraqi line at Camp Udairi. I see mostly American soldiers here and stay busy. The highs in the afternoon are always in the 130's and the nights "cool down" to the high 80's. We have been having very bad sand storms the past week which has made things even worse than the norm.
